Retro mode in Asteroid Pong is another way to see the game: the same match from above, in pixel art, with its own menu, color palettes and a column HUD. It's a secret: it doesn't show up in the menu until you unlock it by playing.

What retro mode is

Retro mode is a second camera on the same game: top-down, in pixel art, with the same information, in the same order and with the same warnings as the 3D version.

HUD: in landscape it sits in columns on both sides; the boss block (name, title, bar, phase and attack) goes at the top of the right column.
Table spin: the bosses' vortex only turns the table ±90° and the game reframes to stay playable.
Titans: they're drawn from above, outside the table.
Settings: brightness, contrast, saturation, color-blind mode and HUD apply to the retro view too; it also has a CRT filter with scanlines and vignette.

The 3 cartridge pieces

Retro mode unlocks once you collect 3 hidden pieces. A pixel cartridge under the logo shows how many you have; every time you earn one, the screen pixelates and a beep plays. The game gives you hints to find them.

2 · 60-hit rally	Hit the ball 60 times in a row with no goal by anyone and without getting stunned.
3 · golden asteroid	Break it with the ball. It can appear from level 8 (4% per level), only while you still need this piece; it starts blinking at 16 s and disappears at 20 s.

How to enter retro mode

Complete the cartridge. With the third piece, the logo's cartridge assembles itself with a pixel glitch.
With touch: tap the logo on the main menu 3 times in a row, within 1.6 s.
With a gamepad or TV remote: select the cartridge under the logo and confirm (A or OK).
Pick what to play. The retro menu opens with all its modes.
