endless

mode · arcade

Endless mode in Asteroid Pong is one nonstop match with no levels, no bosses and no clock: every 30 seconds of play the pace rises and more threats show up. It ends when you run out of lives and keeps its own high score.

How pace works

Pace is endless mode's "level": it goes up every 30 seconds while the ball is in play, up to a maximum of 60.

It drives the same things the level does in the campaign: ball speed, CPU, threats, power-ups, grid color and music. The HUD shows the current pace, little squares counting down to the next one and the time played. Frenzy can break out again every 3 paces.

When each threat arrives

Threats join in by pace, the same way they join by level in the campaign.

Lives and shield in endless

The run ends when you lose your last life: there is no clock, so lives are only lost to goals against you.

  • Starting lives: 5 on easy, 3 on normal and hard (max 7).
  • Easy: the shield recharges every 2 pace increases.
  • Normal: the shield is earned every 15,000 points.
  • Hard: no shield.

More in lives and shield. Endless mode has no bonus stage.

High scores

Endless has its own tab in high scores: a top 10 by points, with time played breaking ties.

"Reach level" achievements do not count in endless; the ones for drones, blocks and the rest do (see achievements).

Endless in the retro view

Endless mode can also be played in the retro view, with the same selector and the same HUD.

Endless mode is part of the full version; in the web demo it shows "available in the full version".
